The Senior Company is sending desperately needed caretakers into nursing homes in New Jersey that have transformed areas of their facilities into units dedicated to the care of those affected by the pandemic. Driven by a passion to continue serving the community, the company has deployed a number of its caretakers to these units.

Several nursing homes in New Jersey have offered these units to ease the burden of overwhelmed hospitals. The reserved space isolates patients who are recovering while giving them a welcoming place in which to do so. The Senior Company has stepped up to ensure these patients receive the high-quality care they deserve despite the challenging circumstances.

"Within the past month, we sent our home health aides into virus-stricken, overwhelmed and understaffed senior care facilities. At the present moment, the seniors in the facilities are sorely lacking the one-on-one care they deserve. The pandemic has contributed to a decline in the level of attention to which these seniors were accustomed," said Dina Jackson, Director of Staffing at The Senior Company. She added, "Our caregivers are solving this problem by giving them the proper level of care. If we send even just two to three of our aides to each facility, we can provide those seniors with the care and attention they deserve."

Financial strain created by the pandemic is making a devastating effect on many nursing homes across the United States. The high cost of purchasing protective equipment for staff and providing technology that allows residents and family members to communicate has taken a toll on these facilities. Decreasing the resident admission rate in order to reduce infection rates has worsened the financial fallout. Some nursing homes face the grim prospect of bankruptcy.

Home-based care has become an increasingly attractive, and even necessary, option in light of this situation. The Senior Company has been helping seniors live independently in their own homes for many years. Fully-licensed, skilled, compassionate and highly experienced nurses deliver world-class care to patients. The services caregivers provide include:

  • Hospital transfers

  • Bathing and dressing

  • Grooming

  • Medication assistance

  • Housekeeping

  • Errands

  • Meal assistance

  • Dementia support

  • Incontinence care

Social-distancing protocols have left many seniors without in-person attention from family members. The Senior Company has stepped in to give seniors the care and attention they may not otherwise receive during this time. These services relieve family members of anxiety by ensuring their loved ones are in good hands. Caregivers can provide assistance with all of the daily needs seniors have including incontinence and dementia issues.
